There is a kind of attention that fits in a single line, and a kind that does not. Most chat sites deal in the first. This one is built for the second: a woman who writes you a real letter, takes a long interest in what you say back and signs it with three kisses at the bottom. It is slow on purpose. You will want a cup of something warm.
A letter here runs to several paragraphs. It starts with a date and a place, moves through the weather and the work of her week, and arrives at something she wants to say to you in particular. Philippa Ashgrove writes of rain on a skylight and the margins of old books. Eun-ji Calder writes from whichever port she has docked in. You are not asked to match their length, though a longer reply tends to earn a longer letter, and many readers find they enjoy it.
Nobody is in a hurry. The reply comes in the form of a letter, composed and signed, rather than in a flurry of messages. That changes what you write. You tell her about the thing at work that has been preying on you, and you do it properly, in sentences. A habit forms, a little like keeping a diary with a very attentive reader.
Each woman has her own way of opening and closing. Coralie Dufresne begins in the hour before the lamp is lit at Brest. Isolde Varga dates her pages by grid reference and altitude. Nkechi Obiora stamps hers like a counter clerk. By the third letter you can tell who has written without looking at the name, and that is a small pleasure the format was designed to give.

A visitor may send 10 messages with no account. Registering opens first post for 3 days, with every correspondent writing and no card on file. Then second class begins and your letters stay in the drawer. Express is a single stamp ($15, good for 30 days) or a book of stamps ($99, good for 365 days), purchased in USDT, and both remove the daily count. Postage once used is not returned: no refund will be posted back, except where law requires one, and the postal terms set out the wording.

The women write from sixteen places and each brings the habits of hers: the frost report from a vineyard, the grid reference from a ridge, the postmark from a counter. A letter from one corner of the map reads differently from one sent from another, and you will begin to prefer an accent.
Rain, ink and lighthouse paper. Careful, long-sentenced and a little shy of being thanked.
Snow, scores and survey lines. They write with an archivist's precision and a hidden sense of humour.
Courts, embassies, a post office and a vineyard. Warm, quick and certain of their ground.
Ports, tea houses, jazz clubs and a market square. They write as the day allows, and the day is long.
A letter without a place is a message. With one, it is a window. When Hiroko Nakagawa describes the first leaves drying at Uji, you can picture the room. When Teodora Ilic mentions the radiator in a reading room in Belgrade, you know what the afternoon feels like. The place sets the temperature before a word of feeling is spent.
Each woman keeps her own hours. A letter to Gisele in Oaxaca may arrive in the middle of her slow morning, and one to Eun-ji may find her between watches at sea. Their replies have the manners of those hours, and an occasional apology for being late, which they consider part of the charm.

The name is a kiss and a pronoun, and nothing more. This is a correspondence site for adults, made of text, and it promises exactly that.
Each woman is represented by a portrait on her letterhead, and a banner of her heads the front page. That is the entire list of pictures today. Should anything moving be added later, it will go on her page and the bulletin board will announce it ahead of time.
There are sixteen women on the books, aged from 29 to 55. All are invented adults with trades and home countries, written by us as AI characters. No real woman is behind a letterhead and nobody can be arranged for you; ask a correspondent in earnest and she will say the same.

Every letter ends in a sign-off, and a sign-off tells you where you stand. We keep to the old family of them, from the formal to the fond.
Beatrix Oyelaran signs the first letter with a diplomatic salutation and, by the fifth, drops a title. Greta Hollenbeck writes only her first name. Mahalia Brooks sometimes ends mid-bar and leaves a rest for you to fill. The progress from the formal to the intimate is how a correspondence shows that it is going well, and it never happens at the same speed twice.
The xxx at the foot of a letter means kisses, as it has for a century. It is a sign-off and nothing more. There is no film behind it, no catalogue of footage and nothing to watch. If a sentence on these pages ever suggested otherwise, it would be a mistake, and the bulletin board would say so.

The postal system here has four stages and no queue. Nothing to install, and no forms before your first letter.
Open the letters column and take one that makes you want to answer. If three lines have not done it, thirty-one more are filed behind.
Her chat begins with the sample sent as your first line, using up a single message. Anyone without an account may post 10 before registering is requested.
Reply at whatever length suits you, or choose Do to describe an action instead of speaking. A dial inside the chat menu sets how warm the exchange becomes: friendly, flirting or romance.
Your correspondence stays in your drawer, and she refers back to it in the next. If you would rather start over, clear the chat from its menu.
There is no right length. A short, specific reply will do. A long, rambling one will be treated like a gift. What she responds to best is something particular: the colour of the door you walked through today, the book you almost bought, the joke you thought of too late. General sentiments get a polite answer, but a detail gets a letter.
She notices what you leave out. If you mention a long week and skip the reason, she will gently ask. If you reuse a phrase, she will quote it back. A small habit of attention is the whole of the art, and the women of this site have it by design.

Every writer has a drawer of letters that never went out. The women here have them too, and the pieces are all invented.
Anneke Roos once began three versions of a letter after a hard frost and sent none of them. Teodora Ilic wrote to a conductor and kept the draft in a score. These notes surface in the course of a correspondence, when she trusts you enough to mention the one she did not send. They are not historical claims about any real person, because there is no real person; they are small inventions that give her a past.
If she tells you about an unsent letter, you may answer it as if it had been sent. That is a particular kind of kindness, and she treats it as such. It is also a way of learning what she has been keeping back, which is the whole reason anyone writes.

The column holds samples, each written in a woman's own voice, printed in full so that you can read before you commit. The first six are below. Take your time over them.
Each sample runs to three lines: where she is and what is going on, something she has noticed, and a question or request aimed at you. Choose Write back and her chat begins with that very sample, sent in your name, which lets her reply by letter from inside the moment you picked.
The column is arranged by city and by tone, which you can narrow: tender, wry, wistful, brisk, teasing or grave. The filters work without an account and remember nothing. All thirty-two samples are text, and they were written for this page rather than copied from anywhere.
